About the Purple Cobras

Organization
Gold Hockey Development Purple Cobras is a registered Non for profit organization that provides hockey development to U7, U8 and U9 (2017, 2016, 2015) players on a tryout or invitational basis and is comprised of players from the Barrie and surrounding communities for our winter program, Our Spring program is compiled of players from U7-U15 offering both AAA and Elite level opportunities in some of the top tournaments in North America. 
Mission
The Purple Cobras Development Program is designed to give the youngest players a fun, competitive and age-appropriate hockey development experience with the intent of preparing each child to compete in a Full Ice Development program, with and against other kids that are at the same skill level, the intent of the program is to prepare kids to return to their home hockey centres ready to play AAA/AA hockey at the U10 age group.

This program was developed with the additional goal of providing players and their families with an affordable, consistent, and a time-efficient hockey schedule.

Core Principles

Our Core Principles are focused on:
  1. Play – Our key focus will be on players having fun. Players will engage in full ice games throughout the season.  
  2. Compete – Our players will play in a healthy competitive environment. They will be playing against the top players from across the province and beyond.  Our focus will not be on just winning but on competing and learning. 
  3. Develop – We want KSL players to love coming to the rink to get better each day and build long lasting relationships.

Structure

Teams will participate in 6 mandatory events throughout the course of the season with an optional 7th holiday tournament . In addition, teams will have the opportunity to schedule games throughout the course of the season. All games will be FULL ICE.  An end-of-season tournament will bring together all teams for a celebration. (Included in the 6 mandatory events) Two Tiers will be created for each age division (/U7/U8/U9).
